Hot Topics: Obama says police acted 'stupidly' in arresting black professor

  1. The entire panel seemed a little annoyed with Barbara constant interrupting and condescending tone, especially Sherri. Remember the good old days when Barbara used to only be on twice a week?

Actually, I have always thought the show works better with only four ladies at the table. I think they should maybe only have all five ladies on once a week, and then whatever other day Barbara wants to be on, the other ladies can rotate having an extra day off.

  2. Was Barbara rude or what...Sherri looked like she wanted to reach over that table and .....well you know!!

  3. Everytime Sherri needs to say something Barbara always put her down!

  4. I feel so sorry for Sherri, having to put up with Barbara's condescending self. She treats Sherri likes she's stupid. She may have said some comments in the past that weren't so intelligent, but she's not a stupid person. Back off, Barbara!

  5. The is proof Barbara needs to retire. She is so obnoxious, condescending, and seems to think she is all-knowing on every single issue. I have said I wouldn't bother writing ABC since the show is basically hers, but today, I feel as though I must. Not only was Sherri annoyed, but Whoopi and Joy. We all know Eliz-brown-nose-abeth will let Barbara walk all over her all the while kissing her feet.

  6. babs's behaviour was not new today so i won't comment on that part. (i'm saying i agree with everyone on that point.)

but i do want to comment on the part where both sherri and whoopi were saying that they cannot believe there are people out there who believe that just because we have a black president that america is post-racial. when obama won the election back in november, their responses i found particularly troubling. whoopi said she feels like she could "put her bags down now" and sherri was started crying saying she told her son jeffrey that there is a chance for him now. (you guys should check it out.) both of their responses bothered me then because i thought, while this definitely shows *some* progress, it certainly doesn't mean that america is no longer racist all of a sudden. this is not a time to "put down the bags;" there is still a heavy load that *many* americans must bear due to the racist foundations of this nation. NOW all of a sudden, the two of them are acting like they *know* this! i just wish they would think about what they say and not be so sometime-ish because it's frustrating to watch.

  7. Dude, what is up with Babs? Why has she got to cut off Sherri at every opportunity, shooting her down like that? Sure, Sherri is a dumbass most of the time and I don't like her personality or opinions, but you can tell that sometimes she really tries.

Babs was being obnoxious, and thankfully Sherri didn't just sit back and take it like the other ladies would have.

Also, was Elisabeth crying at the 15 second mark? It looks like she was trying not to or had just cried during the break?

And what's up with Barbara's face? It's like half of it is frozen??

I don't want to start gossip but could it be a stroke? Or is it just botox gone wrong?

  8. Oh, and the Monica Lewinsky defense?? YEESH, the homewrecker defending the homewrecker. Retire BABS!

  9. i think that joy was in rare form today she seemed pissed off they all did
and i agree babs is there way to much
    def tension on the set

  10. texasmama 101, i most definitely agree: the tension was thick. whoopi sort of jumped on joy in her anticipation of joy's jumping on her; babs jumped on sherri... too much. i think that they all need to go. it's time for a whole new set of people. i'm not sure any of them could make an argument that they aren't celebrities now or that they are just regular folk. i don't think so. tired of them now.

  11. Oh I'm so glad Sherri told Barbara where to shove it. The problem is that Barbara has been doing this since day one and the other guests have been afraid to challenge her because they are her subordinates.

  12. Babs has to go back on vacation and not come back ever! She has gotten so senile....

  13. I agree with all the comments mentioned above regarding Sherri and Barbara. I hae noticed that Sherri is becoming more and more annoyed with Barbara and can't hide it very well. I hope her days aren't numbered with the show. I don't agree with all that she says, but she adds a little comedy to show. Love Joy, but her sense of timing with jokes is sometimes off or totally off point!!

  14. I feel like Whoopi sometimes brown nose too.

  15. I'm sorry but Sherri was going off on a completely different tangent when responding to whoopi's comment about what Obama said...she wasn't getting her point and Barbara was trying to tell her that what she was saying was completely different than what Whoopi was talking about..it wasn't about him responding, it was the use of a certain word!
I notice sherri, on a lot of topics, just blurts out what she feels, even though it's not relevant to the discussion...I'm glad barbara called her out on it and tried to explain...If none of you can see that, then maybe you're just as lost as Sherri!

  16. There is no need or place here for personal attacks. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Ridiculing people and suggesting that they're "lost" because you don't agree with their opinions, is completely inappropriate for a discussion board.

Address the comments, please, NOT the posters.

That said, Barbara needs to retire already. Particularly after the other day after Barbara, who *was* a celebrated, serious journalist, made the comment that there had been TWO moon landings. Far too often, she doesn't know what she's talking about anymore -- which isn't her fault but she needs to get OFF the air before her reputation is tarnished worse than it already is. The morning radio guys were saying last week "didn't she used to be a journalist?" and when the morning drive guys who don't watch The View are ridiculing her lapses, it's time to go.

  17. I feel a little sorry for Sherri sometimes on this panel. Although when it comes to religion etc i strongly disagree with her opinions i feel alot of the time she isn't able to fully voice her opinions because of other more forthright members of the panel.
Nobody seems to have a good word to say about Barbara anymore.
What does Whoopi have on her right forearm?

  18. Barbara i starting to annoy me to the point of no watching the show anymore...

  19. That is a childs band-aid on Whoppi's arm. If you got to have a band-aid, it might as well be cute!

  20. @Nicole actually if you go back you will see that the first thing whoopi said was "Some critics say he crossed the line by commenting..." period. Sherri was addressing that point by saying it was a no win even if he hadn't commented.

  21. Look... I will be the first to say that Sherri may not be as eloquent in her vocabulary than say Barbara or Elisabeth (intellectual wannabe) but... That being said... She makes a GREAT point when she does feel passion for a subject and yes race relations, special needs children and medical issues (due to her own) she is quite eloquent!!! Stop looking at the package and listen to the common sense she yields on the show. She is quite refreshing and does assist Joy and Whoopi in driving a common sense point through, which I cannot say for kiss Bab's ass Elisabeth... Get past the rough exterior and you will find that Sherri has WAY lot more to contribute to the show then -I watch Fox ''news'' and have no opinion of my own then republican talking points-Elisabeth ... really take the time to dissect the arguments, you will notice that all though Elisabeth may have a higher education/college degree, Sherri is the one that incites true intellectual curiosity and debate... In a non-threatening open way...

  22. Do u realize that Barbara just cuts everybody off only to REPEAT what they say !!
I don't like it when she's there, I feel like whoopi and Joy ain't then selfs so much !!
    thanks 4 sharing =)

  23. @ Nicole: I totally agree with you. The folks on this board just don't understand.Whoopi & Sherri were both talking about 2 totally different topics within the main issue and Barbara was trying to get Sherri to understand. Maybe during some segments Sherri should actually workout and not get emotional over a topic that I find is "stupid" to make as a race issue. It's a police issue. Seriously people, read about it instead of reacting to it. The police man doesn't need to apologize for anything except in the way that you would apologize for offending someone in general, but he did not take him in cuffs because he was black. Get over it.

Also, the president should not have commented on this issue. It just makes him look...stupid.
