  1. Is this a rerun because they have talked about the friend who doesn't pay a while back. There are plenty of topics for them to discuss, why are they repeating?

  4. My friends and I just request separate checks! And the waiter/waitress is happy to accomodate. Then everyone just pays their own. How hard is that?

  6. I don't know... Maybe it is because I used to work in the restaurant industry for 9 years... I did everything; Bussing, waitering, hostessinfg, Bartending, sous-chef, worked the grill (not so easy when you're in a vegetarian diet phase, lol) in a bar & grill, had my own shift in the kitchen where I pretty much dictated and even prepared for the next day and finally managing floor staff and later restaurant... It is not that complicated. It really depends on WHO you are dining with... And also the occasion. You could do seperate bills but if you are over four and bottles of wine are involved it can get complicated; what you can do is ask for seperate food bills but collective booze bills; very easy for staff to do! and you have only 2 bills to deal with and can also include the tip accordingly for each bill:) If someone comes later or just has a salad and water it is assumed they are not in the same party mood (and prolly the designated driver, lol) they are exempt to partake in the whole process. Ppl should not feel uncomfortable about this, just communicate:)

  7. Me and all my friends were servers (waiters) in college, and even to this day we LOVE when a server says, ummm we dont split checks. The FIRST thing you learn in the resturant business is the make the costumer happy, so we say as nice as we can... We were not told that when we sat down, so you are going to split our check IF you want to get paid. and a few time it has gone up to the manager and of COURSE, they split our check.
