Hot Topics with Glenn Beck (host, The Glenn Beck Program)
Glenn Beck is 'a lying sack of dog mess,' Whoopi Goldberg says

  1. Tacky, tacky, tacky. That's what four of these "women" are. All they do is harp, harp, harp without letting anyone speak...get Whoopi & Babs off the show!

  2. Seriously every single time I hear or see Glenn Beck is like an immature 5 year old boy in a man's body.

And I love how Joy is like: yes I criticized my own party but Elizabeth is still so passionate for the Republicans. And Beck and all Fox News analysts constantly followed Bush but then when it's Obama's presidency, it has to be "balanced" and take into consideration the Republicans' views. And I agree with Whoopi, these commentator shows is NOT news and should not be on any news network. It is really a disgrace. News networks should report news not opinions of several individuals.

  3. Whoopi gave it to Glenn...no pun intended. The guy engages in sensational journalism to snag ratings. He would say whatever he can to shock people and even go as far as shedding those fake tears.
It's about time someone called him out on his fakeness and Whoopi did it quite well. Lying sack of dog mess. LMAO.
    That made my day.

  4. It was hilarious to see how they basically fnished him off.. like a pack. Elizabeth was trying so hard to not laugh..(watch it again..looks so strange!)
Whoopi's tactic was golden and Sherri cracked me up..made my day as well!

watched the last couple of minutes 3 times..so funny

  5. What fault do you have with Glenn Beck? Do you watch his show at all? Because I do. I'm a Republican. He's a Libertarian. Seriously folks, get some facts straight. They didn't do anything but make themselves look like fools.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I have no problem with news commentary shows (actually I'm pretty addicted to some of them) but Beck's show just confuses me. He doesn't use facts, he stirs up a lot of crap and frankle, he's a bit bonkers. He lied about Whoopi and Barbara and that's not the first time he's done something like that. I think the girls should have called him out about more than that (Bitsy bringing Pelosi into it? That was embrassingly desperate) but hell, he was owned!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Anon @ 1:47. Because it's not reporting or news. It's all sensationalism. It's getting emotions involved in news by crying on air and shouting opinions. And pouring oil on a guy to demonstate Obama's policies. It's not just him. Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Keith Olbermann, Rahcel Maddow and countless others. They are all the same. They do NOT belong on news networks. They belong on entertainment networks. News is investigative reporting. It would be like calling The View a news show. It's not.

    ReplyDelete
  8. when he cried...it was so fake...and i cringed a little that he had to squeeze a tear...but i suppose his loyal viewers love those kinds of thing

  9. Politics is build on values or ideas. To say that a society or a democracy doesn't need several parties isn't realistic. In well functioning democracy there should be room for several views.

It's also interesting to see how the Right wingers all of a sudden are taking the high road about Pelosi's lies - when they didn't really bother that Bush lied about the war in Iraq.

Joy was not very good in this segment. Unfortunately. Pusching him on issues like "Do you think Sarah Palins belives Africa is a country?" or "You have a big mouth too" didn't get her anywhere

    ReplyDelete
  10. Anon @ 1:52 pm. I will agree with you on Hannity, Olbermann, Maddow and others. I will not agree with O'Reilly & Beck. They use facts all the time. O'Reilly is all about facts in fact. They have staff that do their investigative reporting. They paid their dues. They don't need to "report" anything...Beck & O'Reilly are the equivalent of Gingrich & Limbaugh. They're political/entertainment commentators. Watch O'Reilly more often though, he brings facts in all the time. He's beyond credible, whether you agree with him or not.

CNN & MSNBC are full of sensationalists. I just don't see the need to attack the right.

  11. i love how they ambushed him with the vid!!!! LOL!!!!

  12. Comments from Sweden are just always hilarious ~ you're always commenting on such socialistic/far-left extremes. Why don't you join the political frame back in your country?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Go Whoopi!

I can't believe more people haven't said enough is enough and tell commentators like Glenn Beck, O'Reilly, Olbermann etc they truly don't belong on news channels. Get your own space. And I have to say I love Olbermann but he is not a news man or a reporter or a hard hitting journalist. IMO O'Reilly fancies himself as a newsman like Cronkite, a real national treasure and pioneer. In reality BOR is nothing but a blowhard with nothing but spin on his show and should own up to it. I don't want or need him looking out for me.

And Glenn Beck doesn't belong in a movie theater preaching to us. I booed at the trailer I saw a few weeks ago.

    "Quintessential chick show"....what a jackass.

    ReplyDelete
  14. i love watching him backtracking and feebly attempt to correct himself..lol!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. L O V E WHOOPI!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. olbermann, oreilly and beck are commentators...they take an issue, then spew their opinion on those issues...they are NOT meant to be taken as news reporting...

    it should be pretty clear.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1. Glenn people most certainly do identify themselves in terms of 'right' 'left' - perhaps that's not the best way but it's the way things are.

    2. You criticise the politicans because you don't trust them and yet you are a sensationalist journalist who was just caught out for lying, having distorted the facts of your encounter with Whoppi and Barbara. Practice what you preach!

    3. Also, you need to practice some manners - you continually talked over the women, you were condescending in your use of "chicks" and you were touchy when Barbara mentioned that you cry - grow up!

I laughed so hard when Whoppi did that voice for Barbara! I do think the whole issue could've been dealt with briefly and it was actually quite unprofessional for them to attack their guest in such a way! That said, it was hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't see what the man did wrong that deserved such a harping from Mrs. Frumpy & Mrs. Talks Too Slow.

    Let the man speak!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm pretty sure it's the same republican posting over and over on these segments... Whoever you are you sound just as ignorant, pompous and off your meds each time you do.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anon @ 2:04 pm.

    1) It's called moderate or libertarian.
    2) You must be abroad because criticise= criticize. He is not sensationalist at all. He's just a fun, political commentator. Seriously, if people would watch his show, he's not that bad at all. Two days ago he ate Chinese food with Ben Stein. I mean seriously. He's so laid back. Get a clue.
    3) I don't see why the "chick" thing is such a bad thing. Barbara shows that she needs to get out of the television business and go learn to knit.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anon 1:57, let's get real here:

    Fox News: Republicans
    MSNBC: Democrats

And I have watched Bill O'Reilly and Bleck and that is NOT journalism. I am sorry. O'Reilly has lost his composure many times and has let his emotions get in the way of many interviews by shouting (that is not objective journalism). And Beck cries and pours oil on people as demonstrations and has one on one conversations with the screen about his opinions on America's future. This is not good journalism at all. Look up the Reporters without Borders index of 2008. The U.S. media is ranked 36th in the world. Watch BBC World News. Watch AlJazeera. That is real news. They may have a slight bias but that is news, not these commentator shows.

    ReplyDelete
  22. OMG! i can't stand Barbara any longer she needs to RETIRE NOOOOOW!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love Olbermann and Maddow but I take their shows for what they are - commentary shows. If I want the news, I'll watch BBC.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 5/20/09 1:52 PM

    I guess you have missunderstood.

Shows like Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Keith Olbermann are NOT a news program. They don't even claim to be news! They are news COMMENTRAY program. It's nothing weird about it. You can find these shows in every country.

If you want strictly news then tune in to NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams for example or just CNN newsroom

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anon 2:12 - I am fine with commentator shows existing. I have nothing against that. But they should not be on news networks like Fox News or MSNBC. Have these shows on a separate network if you want. But I believe new networks have a duty to report news, not spew opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anon @ 2:09 pm:

I never said it was journalism. Read what I said. They have staff members. They don't need to do that. They've paid their dues. I've said that they are political commentators, but I said that O'Reilly and Beck both use facts. I am not saying that there aren't parts of their shows that aren't based on fact, but O'Reilly has his outburts because he is dealing with loons on the left. His journalism schtick is about confronting issues and topics and he has a fair & balanced approach with it. He has Democratic personalities on his show all of the time.

And I will watch what I want. I have a life outside of the View and my right-wing shows. Many people on the left side are disguntled about life and I can't help their negative nature. If you care about something, get involved. Don't just comment on some thread.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Haha they do....it's called the Fox Business Network.

    MSNBC = Socialist
    CNN= Moderate/Liberal
    FOX= Moderate/Republican

I prefer to have hobbies than to be up on the vast news of the world. Call it stupid, but I would rather go jetskiing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ 2.08pm I very well aware of the existence of moderates, my point was - most people choose to identify politically on the 'left' or 'right'!

And he is a sensationalist - fabricating and distorting facts for the sake of story telling is sensationalism!

And yes i am abroad and what I use is called the 'English language' and how I spell is the correct way - not the way you Americans spell! So please, don't call me out on my spelling when I'm using the English language properly!

    And yes I am abroad

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wow. Classy. Not.

"I have a life outside The View"..."disguntled about life and I can't help their negative nature"

I would never say or write anything as tasteless like that to anyone. Try to debate the issues instead of insulting people.

Why is it that people that claim to be so noble or ABOVE the rest so very often practice such horrible manners themselves?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anon 2:16 - If they are just talking about their opinion on the president or their opinion on policies as a show on a news network, I think that is wrong. Like I said let's be real. Fox News is not fair and balanced. All its shows caters to right-wing people. And all shows on MSNBC caters to left wing people. And it doesn't matter if they report facts. They also fail to report facts that don't help their side so you don't get a balanced view. Like I said, the U.S. media has been going downhill for a long time now. And it is only helping to split the divide in the country between Democrats and Republicans.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @ From Sweden

I completely agree with you on what you said!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I will begin caring about what society has to say when the voter turnout for a state that contributes so many electoral votes to a presidential election reaches above 15% in its' standard election processes.

Until then, I will continue to jetksi. :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love it when Americans talk about socialism. They don't understand that balancing the tax system and creating a fair society is NOT SOCIALISM. MSNBC / Obama do not argue for 100& employment, state ownderhsip, national healthcare etc. etc....

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anon @ 2:34 pm:

MSNBC is heavily influenced by GE and discusses a national health care system ALL of the time. Watch Ed Schultz. Seriously, Paul. Don't comment on messages unless you are watching all sorts of commentators. :)

p.s. I flip over Schultz because I find the man's ideas loony. He reminds me of Joy. Haha

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anon @ 2:09
You say the left are disgruntled about life and cant help their negative nature... okay that makes ummm no sense we have a democratic president we have more congressmen and senators and were working on fixing america so that reguardless of the staion of life anyone can see a doctor teachers are better paid ect... and were negative?!! What are you smoking? Its on beck hanity and oreilly shows that talk about nothing more than right wing bullony and throw fits and fake tears for ratings and yes they talk to the left but lets be real now if their not yelling at the person representing the left views they cut the mic off or remove them from the show... this is what you call fair and balanced? Thats like watching a news show with the mute button on and YOU talking and creating your ideas of what they should say. And because of Beck, tards are shooting at officers killing them because they hype bullshit unfactual statements and propaganda on the tv... and to top it all off are not held accountable. They arent worthy of a commentary show all they do is wallow in their negativity because they lost and people have become tired of all the bullony the republicans have done. Get over yourself you troll your a moron and lastly good for you woopie for calling out the douche bag. And for those who say barbara should go knit and retire lets be real now dont get mad because she wants facts from the douche shes a REAL reporter.

    ReplyDelete
  36. @ Paul Hudgens - Amen to what you said!!

I think it's because Socialism has been so engrained in the American psyche as something abhorrent, that Americans haven't taken the initative to educate themselves as to what Socialism actually is!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anon @ 2:40 pm:

If you had spelled things correctly and used proper grammar, I might read your statements than just skimming through them.

I believe in private school education. We had to learn prepositional phrases in a poem every year. It's that kind of teaching that I hated back then, but respect right now. Because of that, I rarely use improper grammar or spell things wrong. It tends to not make the person sound credible.

Speaking of credibility, if you all respect folks like Maureen Dowd, go ahead, but can you please tell me how that's credible journalism. :) Do you all not understand that readership of left-leaning publications/broadcast stations is down.

    Reflect on that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. MSNBC is left-wing, but at least they aren't afraid to criticize their own "party". When Spitzer, Blagojovich, and Burris scandals went down the democrats let them. When Obama flip-flopped on the war and gitmo photos they attacked him. I have yet to see a Republican, regardless of offense, be criticized by Fox News.

I go international for US news too, as it's the only way to get objective information, but MSNBC is not Fox News.

As for Glenn, not worth my time. The girls ripped him apart like a pack of hyenas, and I'm sure he'll come back playing the "media bias" card soon enough.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anon @ 3:02 pm:

Sorry that you're misguided in your ramblings but Fox News always picks aparts their own party and others. Glenn Beck & O'Reilly do it all the time.

Like I said....ACORN, Las Vegas, Pelosi, Biden...these are good enough stories for now.

However, let me know how much that government tax break helps you out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. "I go international for US news too, as it's the only way to get objective information, but MSNBC is not Fox News."

Please tell me how this sentence makes sense at all...hahaha

  42. @ Anonymous 2:48 PM

Ironically, you're not using proper grammar yourself. Stick to one tense, please. Another thing to keep in mind is that not everyone who is commenting on this blog are native English speakers. You can't possibly expect all of these people to be completely fluent, even though some might be.

Also, it's rather hilarious to see what I presume is an American trying to lecture what I presume is a Brit (in the UK, it's spelled "criticise" and not "criticize") on how to speak proper English. How ironic.

Mr. Grammer, you are a prissy, self-serving, arrogant fool. You might think you have good grammar, but you have no manners whatsoever. I have a BA and two Masters degrees. What is your claim to fame?

    ReplyDelete
  44. 'I go international for US news too, as it's the only way to get objective information, but MSNBC is not Fox News.'

"Please tell me how this sentence makes sense at all...hahaha"

I was saying I watch international news because it is more objective than MSNBC (and any US news program), but MSNBC is not as blindly subjective as Fox News. hahaha.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Madison Grace-

I have a BA, a Masters and will be getting a JD. So sorry that you lost that argument. :)

    Anon @ 3:40 pm:

I laughed at you because you think that MSNBC is not blindly subjective. Duh.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why would someone get 2 masters is beyond me. Unless you have an MBA and an MA, which I'm assuming you don't. But still...two Masters degrees serves what purpose? More debt?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Do these women understand the concept of an interview? You know ask a question, then wait for a response.
To spend the first 5 minutes with a scowl on your face, getting angry about whether he walked over or was called over, is ridiculous.
Whoopi is soooooooo arrogant. She thinks she knows everything, is hilarious and sexy.
Wrong on all counts Whoopi. Barbara suffers from even worse grandiose narcissism.

  48. glenn beck is a joke. no need to discuss that guy

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anon @ 4:44 pm:

You're a joke. That was a useless comment, much like this one. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anon @ 4:43:

I agree. Their interviewing skills are soo bad. They always interrupt people. And they're so unprofessional about it. It's probably because they're digging to always be on AOL's top 5 videos. :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Whatever, Glen Beck deserved this. Fox News should not be compared to MSNBC commentary shows because Maddow and Olbermann CONSTANTLY site for the audience reliable sources and facts. Maddow even CORRECTS things that she has said on her show from time to time to allow full disclosure to her audience. I doubt Glen Beck bothers to do that.

  53. Mr. Paul Hughes I totally agree with you sir.

I’m a college student with access to the internet, history books, political journals and most importantly a dictionary. As a result, when I hear people toss around the word “socialism” thereby trying to use it as a scare tactic when it’s clear he/she does not know the definition of the word, I immediately tune them out.

In a perfect world regurgitating claims you’ve heard made on television by a bald jackass without RESEARCHING THEM FOR YOURSELF would be grounds for immediate arrest.

For heaven’s sake people this is the UNITED STATES- OPEN A DAMN BOOK… IT”S ALLOWED!

  54. wowkowboy@6:55

I totally agree with you 100%. I am a college student as well and we learned in political science that we have many "socialist" programs here in the U.S. such as the postal service and public education. I totally tune out liz when she goes on her socialism-is-evil rant. Americans get their facts from the media and the media is not to be trusted.

  55. Normally I am a huge fan of this show, but Whoopi was downright rude.

    1. what is the big deal if he lied/mispoke/whatever about Amtrack seats.
    2. If someone is invited onto your talk show, you at least let them speak. I am so sick of her talking over everyone like she is the voice of authority on all subjects...

  56. I really liked this segment - many interesting things happen, funny stuff happens, serious stuff happens, it's not all Dancing With the Stars ;) I think that speaking out honestly about what you think sets a very good example, and Whoopi and Barbara are consistent in this regard, and I really like to watch them argue about their views - Barbara is very diplomatic but to the point, Whoopie is sometimes less diplomatic but quite good with language and also to the point. Joy doesn't mince her words, but a lot of the time what she says is mostly her putting on a comedic act (which is all right and very funny, but sometimes I'm not sure whether she really believes what she says - which is all right as well, just my personal problem ;)). Sherri is open but I think she is shy and often lets her emotions get the best of her. I personally find the way Elizabeth discusses her views pretty disappointing - she is often pontificating about an external code of values and set of beliefs, and I much prefer a more personal approach where you pick and choose what you like and what you don't approve of in a system of thought, not just espouse it all. This is especially disappointing because every now and then she shows great insight and personal conviction (i.e. you can see she believes in something because of the way she "owns it" for herself, not just becuase a follower of that particular set of beliefs is "supposed" to believe in it). But this segment shows the best of all that these hosts can bring into the discussion, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Whoopi and Barbara's egos are clearly too big for this show. I'm not a Glenn Beck fan, but I didn't see what he said as being SO offensive. Whoopi especially blew things way out of proportion mainly b/c she just disliked the guy and his show already and just wanted to humiliate him on live tv. It was a total waste of a segment, and did anyone else notice that there was supposed to be another guest on but she was bumped because of this? Even Joy seemed to just sit back and laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Much like Rosie before her Whoopi is just way too into herself and always believes that she's right no matter what. Meredith has been the only adequate moderator on this show and Barbara made a big mistake trying to fill her place with two high profile performers who have no journalistic background. Whatever works for ratings I guess...
