  2. Thanks again Lester !

Regarding Dr. Nancy. I don't believe some of the stuff she is saying. Dr. Oz contradicts her in a number of things. Yo Yo dieting, eating late at night, and some other things. Dr. Oz had different comments.

He has a higher credibility rating in my view then her.

Smaller portions is absolutely the way to go. When I visited the US for work, I was amazed in the restaurants. The size of the plates, and the amount of food. We made the mistake to order a starter at an Italian restaurant, lets say we left 80% of our main course on the plate. And said "No thanks' to the doggy bag....

  3. I agree the Yo-Yo dieting one sounds suspect to me. It seems it would negatively affect your body, especially metabolism.

However, with the eating later..obviously you should aim to not do that but it does make sense the overall calories you consume for the day

  4. Hmmm... are you guys doctors or dieticians? It doesn't sound like it. Eating late is not bad for you. I used to eat cookies late at night, but once I dropped the cookies and switched to eating Healthy-Choice Soup late at night, I lost 5 pounds in 10 days. Secondly, THE DOCTOR was right. Yo-yo dieting is not bad for your metabolism, BUT she neglected to tell you that it IS bad for your heart. Good Day!

  5. Yeah that's what I thought. Yo-yo dieting is definitely overall negative for your body.

As for restaurants, yes I live in Canada and I NEVER order appetizers or desert in restaurants. The main course is ALWAYS more than enough. I never understand people who can order appetizers and such. In Europe I'm guessing the main course is so small that you order an appetizer and desert.

  6. I'm absolutely not a docter or an expert. I try to find information from 'experts'. What I noticed was that some of the conclusions she made, contradicted Dr. Oz. It could be a case of half-truth's. Its always about who do you 'trust' or belief. The more research you do, the more contradictions you find.

And yeah, in europe you usually either order an appetizer followed by main, or a main followed by dessert :-)

  7. She is right about the portion control. Not right about yoyo dieting. People that yoyo diet like Oprah Winfrey will have problems.

In Sweden many people lose weight with Portion control since the Department of health recomend this way. You eat breakfeast - then a fruit - lunch - then a fruit - then dinner - then a fruit. Im inserting a link to a photo of how the lunch and dinner plate should look like. If someone is interested!

  8. I also wanted to say that Whoopie is right - people should just change their eating habit to "how it used to be".
Many people think that losing weight or eating healthy is complicated and belive all these new diets. Eating small portions regually, preparing most of your meals youself with lots of veggies and making sure that you include both fish, chicken and meats during the week is the way to go. It's really the huge plates and the double servings that are dangerous.

The american Department of Health and Human Services really should give more information about nutriton.

  9. 1. Yo Yo diesting been there done that healthy as a horse no heart conditions nadda zip.
    2. Dr. Oz? Please he says whatever to sell a book.
    3. Reason people are fatter is because were lazier we eat out we sit in front of a computer most of the time and the children that are overweight stay in where as we were outside more often as they sit in front of an xbox thingy.
    4. I lost weight by walking eating 3 times a day stuff I made at home (whatever I felt like eating)deleated sodas drank more water a late stroll around the block and well... thats it I was gaining weight because I wasnt staying fit you dont have to kill yourself like these bootcamp weight loss crap just walk, cook, try to keep sugar out you mouth and thats it. Your metabolism is the same unless you have some medical issue... I agree with the doctor on the metabolism. The "heart issue" comes from all those diet pills and their side effects and all the other crap people do to their bodies to loose weight FAST!!
But then I am not a doctor not a dietician just a woman who found the way to loose weight with some changes in my ways of doing things.

  10. I agree with Sweden. If you want to loose weight you have to eat less & excercise more. Eat the good food. There is so much of the rapid weightloss crap out there which is scary. Its true about the Canada/US portion sizes. I went to the UK in April & my cousins were like OMG your sizes are huge! Like our small would be their M or L. A mom at my work has an Ice Cap every day & eats out all the time. She also gives it to her kids cuz she said she has no time to make food. No wonder she is always sick! What we've been told for years is true: excercise & eat right. There is no quick fix! I'm working on it myself :)
