I think that the new Generation Millenia has brought with it a degeneration of moral character that would disappoint our grandparents. We are breeding a society of selfish, get rich quick, and de-value your body (women) individuals. Men are also living at home with their parents for longer whereas the men of previous years wouldn't want to stay at home. There is less of a rush to grow up for today's society.
I disagree michelle. There was no upstanding moral time in history where people weren't involved in prostitution, pedophelia, rape, etc. This is not a problem of a specific generation.
The only difference is now we're connected enough to be aware of it, and hopefully do something about it.
Chordate: I was commenting on the overall generation. Of course there was always underground or mainstream prostitution, etc. Clearly that wasn't my point. My point is that the days of finding joy in simple things, like an episode of "I Love Lucy" and drive-in theatres are gone. Don't attack a point that I'm not making. :)
michelle, I'm not attacking anything, but I am disagreeing with a point you are making. Life was never like an episode of "I Love Lucy", even when people found joy in watching it. I think part of the problem is adults constantly putting blame on the youngest generation when their generation was a part of the same activity. This is a far-reaching problem, and until we treat it as such it's not going to be solved.
I agree... this is not a new problem, just a more exposed problem. Other than that, it is just really really sad and I don't know what to say about it.
I agree 100% with Michelle. This issue has always been there; however, today it's getting way out of hand. People, in particular the young, don't have respect for others or for themselves. It's a collapsing society.
