ReplyDeletein the Perez V. Miss CA thing... People are forgetting that Miss CA didn't even answer the question. Perez's question was "Vermont was the 4th state to legalize gay marriage, Should more states follow? Why or Why Not?" NOT "Do you believe in Gay marriage?"

Ivy Fallal, you're right about the clarification of the question Perez actually asked. Miss California didn't need to add her personal opinion in at the end, because it isn't what he was asking.

ReplyDeleteI personally think gay marriage should be legal everywhere. Marriage is about love, trust, respect, etc, and it shouldn't matter if it is love between a man and a woman, a man and a man, or a woman and a woman. It's still love and everybody should have the same rights.
In the Netherlands, where I live, gay marriage became legal in April 2001 and (of course) nothing bad has happened because of that. So I actually don't get why there still are people that are against same-sex marriage. Gay marriage is not going to change anything about straight marriage, if that's what they're afraid of. It is just all about equality and who doesn't want equality for everyone?

You can't be a bitch to someone as stupid as that Miss California - she couldn't even answer the question! So nobody won that argument. Hilton will go back to being a bitchy bully, Miss California will go back to primping her hair and the gay rights battle will move forward!

For Hieu, I'm sorry to say that Mr. Obama did indeed oppose gay marriage. he says he is open to "civil unions", but not "marriage". as a gay person myself, he broke my heart.

ReplyDeletea little surprised with whoopie today. there seemed to be much understanding and support for this pageant woman who "spoke her mind", even though the panelists may have disagreed. to me, this just smacks of bigotry. had perez' question been concerned with interracial marriage, or inter-religious marriage, i think that whoopie and perhaps joy would have been more vehement in support of civil rights. but they let the gay people get thrown under the bus yet again. this is a civil rights issue, and people who do not support gay marriage may be loving, religious people with hearts of gold, BUT-- it's still bigotry. i imagine this tape being played back twenty years from now, and the panelists cower in shame... love you girls anyway.
ReplyDeleteBecause of my religious beliefs as well, I don't agree with gay marriage, however, i don't beleive in being judgemental and think we should be a free nation with equal rights/opinions...What homosexuals do, doesn't concern straight people, so just let them live their life the way they want!

ReplyDeletePerez's vote on Miss CA and what he said afterwards was WRONG! How old is he? Is he in junior high or high school? Most certainly NOT! I am not against the gays whatsoever but I think he could have been more mature about the situation. She could have answered the question better too but what Perez did was immature to say the least!

ReplyDeleteDanny Gokey & Adam Lambert make a way better final 2. I watch a season only if I have a fav. I follow the recaps on TV Guide Network instead of watching the actual live show.
